Think about the most annoying person you know. Is it a family member, a co-worker? Umm, maybe we shouldn’t think about it too hard or we could end up on a whole different path! Ok, refocusing now…how do you treat that person? Are you patient and kind, rude and intolerant, or even dismissive?
Matthew 7:12 (AMP) says: So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets.
On my most impatient and frustrating days I can be tough to deal with, but I want others to treat me with the utmost gentleness, kindness, and understanding.
According to the Bible I have to give to others what I want to receive. So that means no short-tempered, ‘witty’ comments, no sarcasm, no barking orders, no rolling eyes in disgust?
Sounds like it’s prayer time for me! Thankfully by God’s grace (and with a lot of prayer) I can offer a little gentleness, kindness, and understanding to others not only to receive that in return, but more importantly in obedience to the Word of God and to represent Jesus well.
How will you shine today?
